The Scottish Rite Theatre—aka the “Scotty”—was built in 1925 as a Masonic cathedral. Recently, the Gothic-styled building underwent a $5 million-plus renovation and now offers downtown Peoria a state-of-the-art performance and event venue. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Scotty encompasses an 800-seat theater, luminous stained-glass windows, a lower-level ballroom with capacity for 300 people, and more than 10,000 feet of usable space, as well as a full basement kitchen and banquet facility.
