eLumen8 and LEDJ Become Exhibitionists at TATE Britain

Tate Britain has unveiled RUPTURE NO l: blowtorching the bitten peach, a major new work by Heather Phillipson. Lighting, alongside sound and motion, played a key part in her unique spaces, with vibrant hues being created via two light sources from our eLumen8 and LEDJ brands.

Phillipson’s three interconnected illuminated spaces are populated with the remains of scrap goods repurposed to form creatures. These structures, coupled with media, audio and projected light, create the scenes you see in the images from the commission.

The whole installation utilises 40 of the eLumen8 Endura 1Q120 RGBW COB Zoom exterior fixtures and 42 LEDJ Performer 200 Quads, all supplied by Colour Sound Experiment. They were chosen for their high outputs, smooth colour mixing and robust built quality; and came highly recommended by Colour Sound Experiment as the features they had to offer made them an ideal fit for this type of installation.

This heavy-duty, rental ready IP rated Endura zoom par is made for the most demanding of applications. It is loaded with a 120W quad-colour COB LED (RGBW) and provides a variety of colour macro, change, fade and strobe functions with 4 selectable dimmer curves. The added motorised zoom feature allows the user to adjust the beam angle from 13° to 38°, whilst the included 50mm snoot further directs light output by stopping light spill. Its flicker-free operation and temperature-controlled fan, for whisper quiet operation, make it perfectly suited for use in this type of installation as well as for concert, TV and many other indoor or outdoor applications.

The 200W Performer 200 Quad on the other hand has an output comparable to a 1000W halogen sealed beam Par, thanks to its special parabolic reflector which develops an extremely bright and homogenous output. Its stylish housing, super wide 120° beam angle and unsurpassed colour mixing via the 200W quad-colour COB LED (RGBW) are just a few of the reasons this fixture was chosen for such a thought invoking project.
