The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto

The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto opened with back-to-back sets from Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton for the resort’s Official Grand Opening Weekend, and the room made a bit of history in the process. The 5,000-capacity venue is home to the first permanent installation of Meyer Sound’s Panther line array in Canada, delivered by an integration team that was able to configure and refine both the venue’s complete audiovisual system and elements of building construction.

Located ten minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport, The Theatre is the flagship room for Ontario’s newest and largest casino resort, built with a brief that required a full audio, lighting, and video package. Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) wanted a venue for concerts, comedy, and MMA shows on rotation, built to a standard that would attract Live Nation as a resident promoter. Working with the client’s AV Designer, AVIO Designs of Vancouver, BC, the system design and install went to Aligned Vision Group (AVG), an integrator that had already delivered GCE’s smaller venue at Pickering Casino Resort.

“This was a natural continuation of the work we’d already done with one of their other venues,” began John Coniglio, Partner at Aligned Vision Group. “The client was trying to achieve a rider-friendly performance space for their venue as part of a wider hotel and theatre expansion.”
