Neuron Audio Visual have delivered the first NNNN x OJAS system to the UK in a permanent installation at Manchester’s premier new nightclub, Amber’s.
Amber’s opened its doors in December 2024 and was described by local media outlet Manchester Confidential as ‘a love letter to raving by creative minds who chase substance over style’.
The new owners wanted Amber’s to be a unique and immersive club space in the heart of Manchester and Neuron AV were brought in, in the concept stage of design.
Inspired by Berlin’s organic rave culture, Amber’s aim was to foster a return to the clubs of decades past.
With a firm, no phones policy and a clear and inclusive set of guidelines, the goal was always to make the atmosphere in the club about immersion and letting go rather than posturing for social media.
After a few months of successful operation and rave reviews, the 1,000 capacity venue sought a more permanent solution for room 2, and Neuron were able to propose a unique and exciting alternative.
Alex Morgan, Director of Sales & Installations at Neuron, explained: “Having followed NNNN’s work for several years, we’d built up a relationship with Rune and the team, and were waiting for the ideal opportunity to bring one of their systems to the UK.
This is the first time Oslo-based NNNN has created a sound system for a UK club, with Amber’s Room 2 being the first venue in the country to house the system.
Along with a slew of other celebrated venues globally, Amber’s joins the likes of Public Records in NYC, Siwilai Radical Club in Bangkok, Gehor in Oslo and the Supreme store located in West Hollywood, all of which have benefitted from NNNN’s distinctive sound set up.
Amber’s custom sound system is based on the brand’s new M range, featuring a pair of M1 flown 21-inch subs over OJAS made multicell horns with BMS coaxial mid and high-frequency drivers.
The setup includes an 8-inch coaxial Gage 60 as rears in a four-point configuration and the flat panel Comium 30 studio monitor as a front fill.
The low end is taken care of by a monster double 21-inch Devor 16 sub.
“We also added some Martin Audio CDD8 fills for the balcony chill-out area,” Morgan said. “All run from Powersoft Unica amplification with the same Martin Audio LE200 over X115 DJ monitors.”
To keep the production consistent, the Neuron AV team chose the new Allen & Heath SQ rack model for the second room.
This provided the ideal number of outputs and matrices to offer engineers control, and the built-in sound card is patched to the lighting PC for audio-reactive effects and recording.
Both rooms have DJ monitor systems installed to track music played in DJs’ sets to support PRS payments for artists.
A further custom Madrix-based audio-reactive LED installation adds to the venue’s industrial rave aesthetic.

Amber’s momentum has continued to accelerate since its 2024 opening, hosting notable artists like Caribou, Mr Scruff, Jamie Webster and most recently a surprise secret gig by Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Fred Again.
With Amber’s now home to the UK’s first permanent NNNN x OJAS system, this collaboration marks an exciting new chapter in Manchester’s nightlife.
