Inside View – Vectorworks

Since 1985, Vectorworks has been creating design software solutions for the AEC, landscape and entertainment industries. One of its first 3D modelling software programmes became the industry standard for entertainment as an all-in-one solution for design, documentation and production, and the company has continued to grow extensively since. With the recent announcement of Vectorworks 2021, Vectorworks is looking toward a year celebrating its next level of success, at the end of a difficult period.

Throughout 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown some challenging obstacles Vectorworks’ way, but this hasn’t stopped the company’s continued advancements. Since the beginning, Vectorworks has strived to meet its four core business values – inclusion, collaboration, balance and innovation – and through the announcement of Vectorworks 2021, the company is furthering its industry position.

This year, Vectorworks has directed its efforts into helping customers across the world who are struggling the most. With the entertainment industry being hit incredibly hard by the impact of COVID-19, Vectorworks has been able to offer extended payment terms to help customers hit hardest by the global lockdown, as well as offering free training throughout the end of year to customers looking to improve their skills.

“Despite these challenging circumstances, I’m proud that our collaborative and innovative spirit has managed to thrive among my staff. I appreciate the continued dedication from everyone to serve the needs of our Vectorworks users around the world,” said Vectorworks’ CEO, Dr. Biplab Sarkar. “Innovation has been, and will forever remain, one of our driving principles here at Vectorworks,” he added. “Similarly to how we continue to innovate on our products, we’ll continue to think creatively about how best to support our customers during this tough time and beyond to what the world will look like even after the pandemic.”

The launch of Vectorworks 2021, will see the company release a whole new way to accomplish faster workflows, introducing designers to a future of simplicity. The main focus with the launch is to reinforce dedication and provide quality performance enhancements to users by re-engineering Vectorworks’ most frequently used tools, in order to keep the feature set reliable and innovative. “Vectorworks 2021 is the continuation of our commitment to quality and performance, and is something that will further drive our mission to provide best-in-class design and BIM tools to AEC, landscape and entertainment professionals,” said Dr. Sarkar.

In addition to quality-and performance-focussed features like the new Project Sharing server and multithreaded Vectorworks Graphics Module (VGM) Cache that offers up to five times faster file loading, Vectorworks 2021 boasts interoperability capabilities with Excel Import/Export and PDF Drawing Marker Links. The Smart Options Display also allows users to stay in the modelling space without needing to constantly move their mouse between drawing areas and tool palettes, plus it’s customisable to easily access the most-used tool sets, last-used tools and more.
