Audiofocus extends passive sub range

Belgian loudspeaker manufacturer Audiofocus has announced new passive versions of two of its professional subwoofers.

The C210S dual-vented band-pass subwoofer is now available in both active (C210Sa) and passive (C210S) variants. C210S houses a pair of 10-inch neodymium transducers in a low-profile cabinet and was created to accompany Audiofocus’ super-compact Cyris CX6 live and installation speakers.

Similarly, the C15LS LF / sub-element of the Carys column PA system is also now offered in self-powered (C15LSa) and passive (C15LS) options, both employing a single 15-inch LF transducer with Tetracoil technology. C15LS locks into position beneath the Carys C6 column loudspeaker to create a high SPL solution with a throw of up to 45m.

The new passive models have been developed in response to requests from customers wishing to use the subs in conjunction with Audiofocus’ recently released A series rackmount amplifiers.

“As soon as we revealed our new amplifiers at ISE 2023, we received numerous messages asking for passive subs for Cyris and Carys, primarily as a cost-effective option for leisure and hospitality venues,” commented Audiofocus CEO Ann Leroy. “One advantage of building all our loudspeakers here in Belgium is our ability to respond rapidly to this type of feedback and deliver the solutions our customers need.”
