ADJ’s Jolt Bar FX And Jolt Panel FX fixtures are now shipping

The Jolt Bar FX is a professional linear LED lighting fixture featuring a central strip of 112 5-Watt cool white SMD LEDs.

ADJ has announced the immediate availability of the new Jolt Panel FX and Jolt Bar FX. Both of these flexible fixtures combine intensely bright while strobe LEDs and zone-controlled vibrant colour mixing LEDs to deliver lighting designers a huge amount of creative potential. Ideal for concert productions, festival stages and rental houses, as well as for permanent installation in large nightclubs and performance venues, these powerhouse fixtures can be used to generate a wide variety of effects.

The Jolt Bar FX is a professional linear LED lighting fixture featuring a central strip of 112 5-Watt cool white SMD LEDs, surrounded on both sides by a total of 672 x 0.3W RGB color mixing SMD LEDs. Both types of LED are grouped into independently controllable zones (16 white and 32 color), which means the unit can also be used to generate strobe chases and colored ‘eye candy’ animated pattern effects. Measuring 1m in length (39.4”), the fixture is compact in its other dimensions (4.1” / 104mm and 4.4” / 111mm) and weighs an easily manageable 8.8lbs. / 3.99kg. It features two 180-degree variable angle brackets, which can be used to set the unit directly onto the floor of a stage or attach clamps to facilitate truss mounting either vertically or horizontally. Each fixture is also supplied with a metal bracket that can be used to link together multiple units to create seamless runs of LEDs.

The Jolt Panel FX is a complementary panel LED lighting fixture that incorporates 48 5-Watt cool white SMD LEDs, surrounded on both sides by a total of 800 0.3W RGB SMD LEDs. Again, both types of LED are grouped into independently controllable zones (6 white and 40 color), allowing for the creation of eye-catching animated chase patterns. With dimensions of 6.3” (159.5mm) by 15.95” (405mm) by 9.85” (250.5mm) [L x W x H], the fixture is big enough to assert its presence within a lighting rig but compact enough to be easily setup and transported. It weighs in at 13.2 lbs. / 6kg and is supplied with a single variable angle yoke which locks into place securely using two plastic handles.

The white LEDs are extremely bright and, when combined in multiples of 48 on the panel and 112 on the bar, generate truly intense strobe effects. Both units offer strobe speeds variable between 0.35Hz and 25Hz as well as multiple effect options: ramp up, ramp down, ramp up-down and random, in addition to regular constant strobing. The white LEDs can also be used without strobing to create a powerful static wash of white light that is ideal for use as an audience blinder when combined with the option of 16-bit dimming control.

A wide variety of vibrant colour options can be achieved using the RGB LEDs through individual dimming control of the independent red, green and blue elements. Used as single-colour sources, both fixtures are capable of generating potent washes that cover a large area. Alternatively, through use of the zone control function, each independent block of LEDs can be controlled separately to allow for the creation of dynamic chases and other animated pattern effects.

Both fixtures offer a variety of channel modes, which can be selected appropriately for each application depending on the availability of control channels and the required level of control. The Jolt Panel FX supports eight modes (6, 9, 13, 18, 36, 41, 126 and 141 channels) while the Jolt Bar FX boasts eleven options (6, 9, 13, 16, 18, 32, 38, 42, 64, 112 and 126 channels). Both fixtures offer multiple levels of zone control, ranging from simple separation of the white and RGB LEDs up to full independent colour mixing / dimming control for each zone. In addition, to aid quick programming – and for situations where DMX channels are limited – both fixtures are supplied with 25 colour macro patterns and 9 white macro patterns that can be selected remotely via DMX to make full use of the zone control potential without the need for custom programming.

5-pin DMX input and output sockets are provided for data, alongside locking power input and output sockets. The latter can be used to link the power supply from multiple fixtures to a single outlet. On both fixtures, the power and data input sockets are grouped at one side of the back panel, while the output sockets are positioned at the other, to aid with logical and neat cabling. Both fixtures are also fitted with a USB port to allow quick and simple loading of future firmware updates.

A backlit LCD display on the rear of the unit, with four touch buttons, facilitates easy DMX addressing and mode selection through an intuitive menu interface. It can also be used to easily adjust the various configurable operating parameters, including the LED Refresh Rate (variable between 900 and 25kHz), Dimming Modes (6 presets: Standard, Stage, TV, Architectural, Theatre & Stage 2) and Dimming Curves (4 presets: Linear, Square Law, Inv Square Law and S Curve).

“ADJ’s original Jolt 300 multifunction strobe / wash / blinder fixture has proved extremely popular, both as a reliable lighting tool for the production / rental market and for permanent installations in all kinds of entertainment venues,” comments ADJ USA’s National Sales Manager, Alfred Gonzales. “The new Jolt Bar FX and Jolt Panel FX take the same concept to the next level, offering jaw-dropping strobe and blinder effects as well as saturated colour washes and ‘eye candy’ zone chases. Whether they choose the linear format of the bar or the condensed layout of the panel – or a combination of the two – lighting designers will enjoy the versatility offered by these powerful and distinctive fixtures.”

The Jolt Panel FX and Jolt Bar FX are available now from both ADJ USA and ADJ Europe.
