dBTechnologies launches the VIO W12T — A coaxial multi-purpose monitor

dBTechnologies has announced the global release of the VIO W12T, a high-performance 12-inch coaxial active monitor developed to address the evolving technical requirements of stage monitoring and distributed sound reinforcement across a variety of deployment scenarios.

Purpose-built to perform as a wedge, the W12T features a 12-inch / 1.3-inch coaxial neodymium transducer housed behind a rotatable 60° by 40° horn, delivering 138 dB SPL (AES75).

This configuration provides directional precision and point-source coherence for highly intelligible performance in short-throw and tightly controlled zones, while remaining adaptable to a range of deployment scenarios via optional rigging hardware.

Its sleek design makes it ideal for sightline-critical applications, while still delivering the punch and clarity to lead a full-scale mix.

The system is powered by a 1600W RMS Class-D amplifier operating on dBTechnologies’ Digipro G4 16S4 platform, with 32-bit / 96 kHz DSP delivering linear-phase FIR filtering, dual-stage limiting (Peak, RMS, Thermal), and real-time impedance monitoring.

A suite of selectable high-pass filters (60–120 Hz) allows for precise contextual tuning.

For remote control, monitoring, and integration, the W12T features native RDNet support via AuroraNet, along with a dedicated expansion slot for A2Net or Dante audio-over-IP networking.

Designed to withstand the rigours of professional use, the enclosure features a polyurea-coated wooden cabinet, a rugged wrap-around powder-coated metal grille, and recessed handle design.

Weighing 22.5kg (49 lbs) and equipped with M10 rigging points, the W12T integrates seamlessly with VIO W-series accessories – including the new SA-WT pole mount adapter and U-bracket – for secure flown and installed configurations.

The VIO W12T delivers clean, high-output monitoring with phase-coherent coaxial clarity and consistent VIO voicing, making it ideal for a wide range of performance styles in demanding live environments.

Its compact form factor, flexible mounting options, and remote DSP control also make it a powerful asset in auxiliary roles such as stage wings for off-stage talent or cue mixes, choir loft fills in houses of worship, side-stage or utility vocal monitoring, speech reinforcement zones, and broadcast or camera wing monitoring.
