Hollowsphere has installed Pioneer PRO AUDIO CM-Series speakers at new Manchester venue.
The Morris on Thomas Street, which opened in May 2025, is in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, a bustling area characterised by independent bars, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Creativity is king in this area and The Morris, as a three-floor multi-concept venue, is a fine example how carefully considered design with great attention to detail can create the perfect atmosphere.
In Thomas Street’s competitive environment, The Morris’s ownership wished to gain an edge by investing in a flexible sound system which could provide high quality audio for background music and live performance, whilst also complementing the venue’s aesthetic. The Morris engaged experienced Salford-based integrator Hollowsphere, who provided a premium solution based on Pioneer PRO AUDIO CM-Series commercial audio loudspeakers. CM-Series draws on the brand’s rich heritage of making dynamic club speakers to provide aesthetically pleasing, space saving systems that deliver outstanding audio in any venue no matter its layout. The range has quickly established itself as a go-to for a wide variety of international hospitality and retail spaces.
Hollowsphere Director Adrian Ball commented: “I’d initially assumed that the site would comprise one floor, but discovered that it was across three distinct but complementary spaces. The Morris combines an upscale pub on the ground floor, with an upstairs cocktail bar, above which is an events space with a dedicated DJ area and bar for corporate functions and private parties. The system had to be warm and powerful, as well as easy on the eye and reliable from top to bottom.”
A total of 12 CM-S58T-K 8” surface-mount took care of the three spaces, supplemented by a single CM-510ST-K 10” surface/floor subwoofer in each. The largest of the CM-Series, the units fitted neatly into the interior architecture, delivering rich and powerful sound throughout. The system was powered by two Powersoft Quattrocanali amplifiers and controlled by an AtlasIED Atmosphere AZM8 8-zone audio processor.
Ball continued: “From past experience in bars and restaurants, we knew how easily the CM-Series units can be installed and they look smart in any environment. Importantly, they also have the quality and output the client required. The system is equally comfortable at background and foreground levels, and we’ve always been impressed with the outcomes. Distributor Leisuretec supplied the CM-Series units and deserve praise for their convenient, flexible and accessible service when it comes to stock and speed of delivery.”
The Morris is very well served by its new Pioneer PRO AUDIO CM-Series system which allows the ground floor space to move from laid-back, low-level background music by day to a punchy DJ-driven experience at night. The cocktail bar is able to focus on big, rich sounds, whilst the private function room has the headroom to be louder still.
