Complete Electro-Voice Sound System for Club Gossip
Since its opening in mid 2009, up to 900 guests daily have been making their way to the fashionable Club Gossip in the Norwegian town of Trondheim. The managers of the new dance temple offer a variety of events and genres on the club’s three different levels that demands considerable versatility from the sound reinforcement system.
After carefully comparing the offerings of three other suppliers, Gossip’s managers opted for a sound reinforcement system from Electro-Voice, designed by Norwegian installation engineers and audio consultants avon a|s.
The nerve center and heart of the system is found in the air-conditioned equipment room on the first floor of the club, where ten of Electro-Voice’s ultra-reliable CPS series amplifiers (8 x CPS2.6MKII, 1 x CPS2.9MKII, 1 x CPS2.12MKII) deliver the power while a NetMax N8000 signal processor with IRIS-Net v.2.0 software supervises the system via a WLAN router. It’s a set-up that has attracted considerable notice on the Norwegian club scene, since the integration of the NetMax N8000 – only two rack units high – brings with it a wealth of technical options. With its 300 MIPS (or optionally 600 MIPS) of processing power and a flexible 32-in / 32-out audio signal structure, the NetMax N8000 provides a complex control network that is nonetheless simple and intuitive to operate. By means of the IRIS (Intelligent Remote & Integrated Supervision) software for the PC, the control and supervision of the entire signal chain is available from a single platform.
The Programmable Wall Station (PWS-4) wall panels on each storey offer the staff and DJs the same ease and convenience when operating and controlling the system locally.
Erlend Aasved, who is responsible for the club’s sound equipment, is very impressed with the installation: “Everywhere in the club, the sound is outstanding; moreover, the system is ultra-reliable and child’s play to operate.” Since the feedback from DJs, performers and visitors alike has been uniformly positive, the system is making, as he says: “an important contribution to the success of the club.”
