International sales company Amway recently held a conference in Melbourne, Australia, and called in Genius Laser Technology to help start the event in style. Amway had used Genius once before for their 2007 Amway China gala dinner. The organizers were so impressed with their work that Genius were contracted again - this time creating a show to fit the conferences theme: World of Light.
It was decided the opening event should focus on technology. Genius brought in an inflatable projection sphere 5.5m in diameter, which started its journey from the main stage. The sphere was surrounded by a vertical ring truss rigged with eight evenly spaced GLT moving head Cyclops lasers. The truss ring could pivot around the sphere allowing the truss to start from a vertical position and move to a horizontal position. Genius tracked the entire system - sphere, lasers and truss ring - 48m from the stage into the centre of the room. At the same time, they projected a Chinese laser countdown, video content and lighting effects onto the sphere. This was augmented with laser aerial beam effects from the lasers mounted on the truss ring and full colour, 3W lasers positioned around the room.
GLT also supplied two 2m fog-curtains in each corner of the hall which had an array of visuals projected onto them, which worked as a great photo opportunity for all the Amway delegates.
