Alcons Audio VR8
The VR8 is a 2-way compact multi-purpose loudspeaker, for both portable and permanent applications. Featuring the multiple-patented Alcons RBN401 ribbon driver, the VR8 is ideal for applications where high output, very high fidelity sound reinforcement is needed. The VR8 features a proprietary 4” pro-ribbon driver with Real-90 horizontal dispersion for MF/HF and an 8” vented mid-bass driver for LF. The frequency response is 74Hz up to 20kHz with a peak power output of 125dB. As Alcons’ production tolerances of the pro-ribbons is within 1dB, every VR8 set can be regarded as matched pair. Also, Alcons’ pro-ribbons have a natural flat impedance, making impedance-correction circuitry in the passive filter obsolete, thus considerably shortening the signal path. Furthermore the 800W peak powerhandling of the HF pro-ribbon features a 16:1 peak-to-RMS power handling ratio, where traditional HF transducers bring a 2:1 ratio. This high ratio caters for a virtually unlimited dynamic range from 1kHz to beyond 20kHz. The SpeakerDriveProcessing™ circuit of the ALC offers dedicated protection and filtering, with remote system equalizing. By fully utilizing the individual speaker components’ efficiency, this results in dramatically increased headroom SPL.
