MA LIGHTING GRANDMA VIDEO

Media Server

The grandMA video's newest feature, the Pixel Mapper, enables the media server to convert any video file or still images into pixel colour and intensity DMX values.

With the implementation of this new feature it is possible to display media content on DMX-capable LEDs, controlled by the grandMA console. LED lighting has become increasingly relevant for live entertainment and TV. The Pixel Mapper provides a user-friendly tool for any desired arrangement of LEDs. First of all a layout has to be created, where the size of the overall output and the dimensions of the pixel output are defined.

Then the user can put any Pixel Mapper fixtures, for example, LEDs into that layout, which will display the corresponding part of the video. The resolution may be adjusted by changing the parameters of the pixel output. In addition, the fixtures may be relocated or even rotated after creating and patching. The patch will be created by the media server so that no additional computing power is required from the console. The grandMA video server will output the DMX values of the pixel colour and intensity over Ethernet via Art-Net to the LED fixtures.

USED IN: GrandMA video was used for the Police World Tour 2007, Faithless UK Arena Tour 2007, German Pop Idol 2007, Never Forget 2007 and installed in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queen Elisabeth II.
